10M band 27MHz RF Amplifier based VN66AF

10M band 27MHz RF Amplifier VN66AF PCB layout

This is 10M band 27MHz RF Amplifier which based VN66AF MOSPOWER manufactured by Siliconix. VN66AF is an RF amplifier for 10m band frequency (26-30 MHz).

This 27MHz RF amplifier can transform a small transmitters, 200mW for example to be a 2W to 3W 10m transmitters. The band-pass filter attenuates at least 55dB. For linear applications (AM and BLU) the VMOS FET gate current has to be 20mA adjusted with P1. In case you want to apply this 10m RF amplifier circuit for FM and CW, simply adjust variable resistor P1, so there will be no current to FET gate. In our case the repose current (steady current) is about 200mA to 300mA.

Coil specification:

L1 = 12 turns / 0.6mm / 9mm
L2 = L4 = 5 turns / 1mm / 9mm
L3 = 8 turns / 1mm / 9mm

About RF Amplifier
An RF power amplifier is a type of electronic amplifier which is utilised to convert a low-power radio-frequency signal into a larger signal of significant power, usually for driving the antenna of a transmitter. It is usually optimized to have high efficiency, high output Power (P1dB) compression, good gain, good return loss on the input and output, and optimum heat dissipation.

The basic applications of the RF power amplifier include driving to another high power source, driving a transmitting antenna, microwave heating, and exciting resonant cavity structures. Among these applications, driving transmitter antennas is most well known.
